Rogue Stormers

I am going to start this review off with something that bothers me about most games, Performance. If you spend money on a game, I don't care how much it costs. You damn well should be able to run it. I know I know, You should always check the system requirements before purchasing a game. However, The system requirements aren't always right. Especially when a game is being updated. Adding more elements graphically to a game is a killer on some graphics cards. I'm not saying that games shouldn't be updated, After all that's what makes a game better. I'm saying that developers need to think about performance. Not every person has $1,000 to put towards a new PC. Moving on.

You begin the game with one character, Thrown right into the action. You run around procedurally generated maps and pick up coins and chests and take on different types of enemies. Procedurally generated, Two words that get me excited. When you sit down and play a game with the same levels copy and pasted over and over again, It gets boring. Games need to have different things to keep you interested. You can add all the power ups you want, If you're staring at the same background in every level, It can be annoying.

There are currently(That I know of) 3 different types of chests that are throughout the levels. A Key Chest, A Coin Chest and a Health Chest. Now, That doesn't mean you get those things when you open those chests. When you come across a Health Chest, You use health to open it. I thought this was a cool addition to the game. Instead of just throwing random chests around the map and saying "Here, This is what you get when you open this". There are also different types of Power Ups you can get as well.

Rogue Stormers has gotten mostly positive reviews on Steam. It costs $19.99 USD and to me, Is well worth the money for the time I got to play. It has a co-op for up to 4 players. Procedurally generated maps. You get thrown right into it. That's what I love about this game, No hand holding. "Here's your gear, Get out there a shoot stuff!". Hopefully they will figure out the performance issues and correct that. I'll be the first person to put in 500 hours.
